SEP

A VERY SPECIAL JERSEY

In 1988 was
Leif Birkbak admitted to the special unit SEP/VLK. SEP - "Special
Intelligence patrols” - consisted of personnel from the Home Guard and originated
at the end of the 50s as a remote reconnaissance unit that had to observe and report
on hostile operations. There was a special entrance exam for the unit and
the members were trained at a high level.
Further training consisted, among other things, of Parachute's basic training
at the Jægerkorpset and Frømandkorpset 's combat swimmer course.

As proof of
his admission, Leif was given a special edition of BIRKE training suit and
later bought our original running anorak with the iconic pentagonal pocket as
Leif used extensively for o-runs and FUT. Leif was serving at SEP forward
until it closed down in 1994. Subsequently he served with SSR from
2001-2016 and ended his time in the Home Guard in 2016 after 35 years.
