MIA IRVING

Three times Danmarksmeter in powerlifting

Mia Irving, 25, was born, raised and has lived in England for the first 9 years of her life. She comes from a family where everyone plays sport at a relatively high level, and she started herself at 15.

Mia says, among other things: “I started with fitness, where it was mainly long-distance running that got my attention, but an injury forced me to try something else.

Still in the gym, I therefore started lifting weights, with the result that I gained 14 kg in the first year. A little later in high school, my PE teacher introduced me to powerlifting, and pretty soon after that I qualified for the sub-junior national team. On this, I took part in various competitions until I had to start conscripting in the Armed Forces.

After conscription, I was employed as a constable in the Army, and it was now mostly here that my training took place - until the start of the time with the Corona pandemic. During this period, some of my friends and I had a home gym, and here I spent all my time building up strength. Shortly after Denmark became open again, I took part in my first DM, which I won, and immediately afterwards I was admitted to the national team in powerlifting.

I am still employed in the Armed Forces - now in my 5th year as a chief constable in the air force, where I serve at air station Aalborg and work as a mission planner.

I am currently on leave to train as a physical trainer at Aalborg Sports College's powerlifting line, and this also gives me the opportunity to focus 100% on my sport for a year," concludes Mia.
