R&R is the military abbreviation for "Rest and Recovery", which is a term used when units are withdrawn from the front to rest and rebuild their combat power.

The material is relatively complicated to manufacture, and is made with thin strips on the front which makes the trousers flexible and stretchable. The back consists of small squares that have been scratched up, and thereby help to retain some of the heat. The way the material is produced, means the trousers will not feel too warm.
